Biography:
Arnaldur (Arnold) Halldorsson was born in 1971 in Reykjavík, Iceland. He studied photography at the Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design in England (1990-92) and the Parsons School of Design in Paris, France (1992-93). After completing his studies he started a freelance career.
Arnaldur´s work includes commercial, press and industrial photography for many of Iceland’s largest companies and advertising agencies. Along with his private practice he has (since 1997) worked as a part time press photographer at Morgunbladid, Iceland’s largest newspaper, on numerous interesting and challenging assignments. He is involved in various assignments for the Icelandic photographic community, such as sitting on the board of the Icelandic Photo Press Association and consulting for the Ministry of Education, Science and Culture, as well as planning photographic studies and exams.
Arnaldur has received many assignments from foreign commercial photographers as well as from TV and film crews, such as the Emmy winning Game of Thrones. He has gained much experience in producing, photographing, assisting, planning, location scouting as well as organizing equipment rental when needed. In addition, he has had the opportunity to photograph for many distinguished international companies such as Time Magazine, the BBC, Dwell, the Discovery Channel, Outdoor Magazine and Reuters. He is currently Bloomberg Financial News´ exclusive photographer in Iceland.
In recent years Arnaldur has taken a great number of foreign travellers and photo enthusiasts around Iceland to experience the versatile Icelandic landscape. For example the south-east of Iceland is home to Europe’s largest glacier and many of the country’s most enchanting sights such as a variety of waterfalls, snowy mountain peaks, black sand beaches and magical glacier lagoons.
Arnaldur has had private exhibitions and participated in group shows. His photographs have frequently been nominated and received prizes in competitions both at home and abroad. He uses a variety of cameras and drones on his photographic and film assignments and mainly uses Photoshop and Capture One to work on his photographs.
